Akang Inyene Akan is a first-class graduate of Microbiology from the University of Uyo, Nigeria, with a strong foundation in environmental and molecular microbiology, public health, and infectious disease research. He currently serves as a Senior Research Assistant at Helix Biogen Institute, where he leads and supports innovative projects in microbial pathogenesis, DNA/RNA extractions, gene amplification, and molecular assay design under the supervision of Professor Oladipo Elijah Kolawole. With over five years of experience in both academic research and teaching, Akang has demonstrated exceptional teaching ability as a senior biology instructor and Head of Department at Bell International School, Calabar. There, he helped students achieve a 95% pass rate in Biology, preparing them for British IGCSE and Cambridge A-Level examinations. His teaching methodology blends foundational biology with practical demonstrations and modern tools, ensuring comprehensive subject mastery. Akang’s academic contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications on plant-based antimicrobials, food spoilage, and water microbiology. He has presented at national conferences, delivered invited talks, and secured partnerships to promote food security and science development in Nigeria. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and Society for People Analytics and volunteers actively in sustainable development initiatives.
